Help & Support
Start with the fixes below or email hello@hummingly.app. We’ll help you protect your library while diagnosing the issue.
Protect your account. Hummingly support will not ask for your password, sign-in code, Apple/Google token, full private-sharing link, playback credential, or storage authorization. Do not email sensitive lyrics, prompts, or audio unless support specifically requests the minimum needed and you choose to provide it.
Getting started and sign-in
Why does Hummingly ask for my date of birth?
Hummingly is available only to people age 18 and older because the service uses third-party artificial-intelligence providers with adult access restrictions. The age screen appears before account creation, sign-in, or guest access. Hummingly uses the entered date only to determine eligibility, does not retain the date of birth, and does not use it for another purpose. You separately confirm that you are at least 18 and that you reviewed the Terms and Privacy Policy. For an eligible user, Hummingly records the adult eligibility result, confirmation time, and applicable legal-document versions.
Which sign-in method should I use?
Use the same Hummingly account on every device. Email/password, Continue with Apple, and Continue with Google can represent different accounts even when the visible email looks related. A guest account is limited to the current device and cannot use Library Sync, Backup, usernames, QR profiles, or private sharing.
I entered the wrong date of birth
Do not repeatedly re-enter different dates. Contact support and include the app version, platform, and device model. Do not email identity documents or your complete date of birth unless support gives you a secure, specific reason and method.
I cannot sign in or see “can’t reach the internet”
- Confirm another secure website works on the device.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and cellular. If appropriate, temporarily disable a VPN, DNS filter, or restrictive network profile.
- Set device date and time to automatic, fully close Hummingly, and reopen it.
- Retry the same sign-in option. Do not create a new account if you expect an existing library.
- If only one provider fails, try email sign-in for the same Hummingly account if it was previously linked; otherwise contact us before creating anything new.
Google or Apple sign-in is missing
A provider button appears only when that platform build is configured for it. Update to the latest Hummingly build and restart the app. Apple sign-in is shown only on supported Apple builds; Google sign-in should appear on properly configured iOS and Android builds. Include app version, device, OS, and a screenshot when contacting support.
I forgot my sign-in details
First confirm whether you used email, Apple, or Google. Apple and Google credentials are recovered through those providers. If an email reset option is not available in your app version, email support from the address associated with the account. Never send the old password.
What password does an email account require?
Use at least 12 characters and include at least three of these four groups: lowercase letters, uppercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Use a unique password and a password manager where possible.
Lyrics and song creation
Generation is stuck or failed
Keep Hummingly open on a stable connection for several minutes. If the progress stops, return to the creation flow and retry once. Shorten unusually long text, remove artist/song-title references, or select a longer target duration. Provider capacity, network errors, content screening, account limits, or malformed audio can stop a request. Retrying can produce a different result.
The lyrics do not sound like me
Add concrete details, desired point of view, phrases you want kept, and the feeling you want the chorus to carry. Compare lyric takes and edit the selected version directly. Generated text is a draft; review every line before making or sharing a song.
The song feels rushed or cuts off
Open Music Studio and select a longer target, or shorten the lyrics. Hummingly shows a best-fit estimate because a large word count can force a faster vocal even when tempo is adjusted. Target length can extend slightly so a final line finishes naturally.
Can I use lyrics I already wrote?
Yes. Choose I already have lyrics in the creation modes. Only submit words you wrote or have permission to use. This skips AI lyric drafting and moves to musical styling.
Can I ask for a particular artist or existing song?
No. Choose genre, mood, instruments, energy, tempo, and vocal qualities without using an artist name, existing song title, copyrighted lyrics, or protected recording as an imitation shortcut.
Where is my lyrics history?
Open You → Your lyrics & history. Generation sessions can include the prompt, takes, edits, chosen version, style, and linked song. A recovered song can show final lyrics even if earlier drafts were never backed up.
Playback, lyrics, Karaoke, and binaural audio
A song does not play
For a song you created, open Library Sync and let any missing audio recover before retrying. Created songs with verified local audio can play offline. A shared song requires internet, the authorized recipient account, and a current accepted grant. If it was revoked, blocked, expired, or quarantined, playback ends.
Synced lyrics are early or late
Open the song’s … menu and choose Re-sync lyrics. Hummingly may send the full audio and lyrics to Hummingly’s private internal Whisper alignment service. The temporary processing file is deleted when timing finishes. Keep the app online until the new timing is saved.
Karaoke is taking a long time or leaves vocals
Karaoke uses Hummingly’s internal Demucs separation service and can take time. Keep the app open and online. Separation is approximate; layered vocals, reverb, and dense arrangements can leave artifacts or remove some instruments.
I cannot hear the binaural effect
Use stereo headphones, turn Binaural on, and raise Binaural volume gradually. The layer is intentionally subtle. It is for listening preference, not diagnosis or treatment. Stop if uncomfortable and do not use distracting audio during driving or other safety-critical tasks.
Can I control playback outside the app?
Supported builds can expose play/pause and transport controls on the lock screen, notification/media controls, connected-car interfaces such as CarPlay or Android Auto, and compatible accessories. Availability depends on the platform, connection, and current audio route.
Library, Favorites, and playlists
What is the Favorites playlist?
It is automatic. Favoriting a song adds it; unfavoriting removes it. The song itself remains in the Library. An accepted shared song can be a favorite while access remains active.
Why is a shared song labeled “Shared”?
The label preserves provenance. Shared and created songs use the same list appearance and common actions—Create a similar song, New playlist, favorite/unfavorite, and Remove from Library—but the sender remains the owner and can revoke access.
A shared song disappeared from Favorites or a playlist
The sender may have revoked access, deleted the source song/account, blocked the recipient, or a moderation action may have removed playback. Revocation removes the shared item from the recipient’s Library, Favorites, playlists, queue, and continue-listening surfaces.
How do I delete or remove a song?
For a song you created, use the full player’s … → Delete song and confirm. For a shared song, use … → Remove from Library; that removes your saved reference but does not delete the sender’s song. Removing a song from one playlist does not remove it from the Library.
Library Sync, Google Drive, and iCloud Backup
What is the difference between Library Sync and Backup?
Library Sync is Hummingly’s private cross-platform bridge for devices signed in to the same saved account. Backup is a separate recovery mirror in Google Drive app data or, on supported Apple devices, iCloud. Both are encrypted in transit and protected at rest, but neither is end-to-end encrypted.
How often does Library Sync run?
While the app is active, local changes normally queue within a few seconds. Hummingly checks for changes from other devices about once a minute and when returning to the foreground. Large audio, network, battery, server, or device conditions can delay completion. Open You → Library Sync for status and retry.
How often does provider Backup run?
After the first successful provider connection, durable library changes normally schedule a backup after a short coalescing delay while the app is active and the provider session is ready. Playback-only progress is coalesced roughly every 15 minutes. Use Back up now before reinstalling or changing devices and verify the last-success time.
My songs or history disappeared after sign-in
- Confirm the exact same Hummingly account and sign-in method.
- Open Library Sync and keep the app online until Up to date.
- Open Backup and verify the provider account and last successful snapshot you expect.
- Do not uninstall, clear app data, switch accounts repeatedly, or delete recovery entries while sync/restore is working.
Final lyrics can appear before history details or audio. Contact support before destructive troubleshooting.
Google Drive says Needs sign-in or Needs attention
Reconnect from You → Backup, choose the intended Google account, and confirm storage/network availability. Hummingly uses only its private app-data folder. A managed Google Workspace administrator can prohibit app backups.
iCloud is stuck on “Finishing in iCloud”
Keep the app open and online. Confirm the device is signed in to iCloud, iCloud Drive is enabled, and storage is available. Tap Check iCloud status. Hummingly will not show a successful time until iCloud confirms and the package is verified.
Why does Android not show iCloud?
iCloud Backup is available only on supported Apple devices. Android supports Google Drive Backup. Library Sync—not iCloud or Drive—is what keeps a Hummingly account current across iOS and Android.
What data is protected?
Provider Backup includes created songs and available audio, lyrics and generation history, playlists/order, favorites, presets, playback and deletion state, and selected preferences. It retains up to the latest three verified provider revisions. Library Sync carries song data and, after full-library Backup is enabled, the supported metadata needed for cross-device convergence. Wellness history, credentials, private-share grants, and provider tokens are excluded.
Does turning Backup off delete the cloud copy?
No. Off stops future snapshots from that device. Delete existing provider-held copies through Google or Apple controls. Deleting a Hummingly account also does not automatically erase local files or a provider Backup.
Wellness minutes, Apple Health, and Health Connect
What counts as a wellness minute?
Audible Hummingly playback counts while audio is ready and playing. Paused, loading, buffering, and failed time is excluded. Display rounding can hide short fractions, so play audibly for at least a minute and reopen the Wellness view.
Where can I view totals?
Tap the wellness card under You, then choose Day, Week, Month, Year, or All time. History is local per Hummingly account on that device and is not part of Library Sync or Google Drive/iCloud Backup.
What is sent to Apple Health or Health Connect?
Only after you enable write access, Hummingly writes start/end time, timezone-offset context, and a Hummingly session identifier used to avoid duplicates. It does not write title, lyrics, prompt, audio, or account details and does not request access to read health history.
Health Connect says no activity can handle the request
Update Android and Google system components. On newer Android versions, find Health Connect in system Settings; on some supported older versions, install/update the official Health Connect component. Reopen Hummingly and try Manage access again.
Local minutes work but health export does not
Open Apple Health or Health Connect permissions and allow Hummingly to write the mindfulness type. Return to Wellness and tap Sync now. If permission was revoked, local totals continue and eligible sessions can remain queued for a later authorized export.
Account, subscriptions, and data requests
How do I change my username?
Open You → Username, enter an available name, and tap Save username. Usernames are 3–30 lowercase characters with letters, numbers, periods, underscores, or hyphens and must have alphanumeric endpoints. Former names stay reserved to the account and old profile links may keep resolving safely.
How do I cancel or get a refund?
Open You → Membership → Manage Subscription to open Apple or Google’s subscription settings. Cancel there before renewal. Deleting Hummingly does not cancel billing. Refund requests are managed by the store that processed the payment. Use Restore Purchases if a current membership does not appear after reinstalling or changing devices.
How do song allowances work?
First Hum includes one welcome creation. Cozy includes 20 creations per calendar month and Glow includes 50. Monthly and yearly memberships use the same monthly reset with no rollover. A preview starts a complete song and counts once; accepting it does not count again. Another take counts again. Technical generation failures return the reserved creation.
How do I delete my account?
Use You → Delete account and confirm, or follow the account deletion guide. This revokes sessions and shares and begins deletion of Hummingly-held account data. It does not automatically erase files already on the device, Google Drive/iCloud Backup, or Apple Health/Health Connect sessions.
How do I request access, export, correction, or deletion?
Email hello@hummingly.app from the account email and describe the request. A server-data export does not necessarily include binary audio, local wellness history, provider Backup/health records, credentials, or security/audit records. See the Privacy Policy and Consumer Health Data Privacy Notice.
Safety and urgent help
Hummingly is not an emergency or medical service. If you or another person may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. For urgent emotional support, contact a trusted person or a reputable local crisis service in your country. Do not wait for an app or support email response.
Listen at a comfortable volume, avoid distraction during driving or safety-critical activities, and stop if an audio effect causes discomfort. Wellness and binaural labels do not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent a condition.
Why was my text rejected?
Hummingly checks inputs, generated lyrics, returned music text, and a private temporary transcript of the sung audio for prompt manipulation, profanity, hateful or harassing language, explicit sexual content, graphic violence, instructions for wrongdoing, and other inappropriate material. Remove AI/system instructions or unsafe wording and try again. Crisis language is handled separately with support resources.
How do I report inappropriate AI-generated lyrics or music?
Open You → Report AI content. Choose Lyrics or Music, select the reason, add only the minimum helpful context, and tap Send report. The report reaches Hummingly’s moderation queue without leaving the app. Do not include passwords, private links, payment details, or other sensitive information. You can separately remove a song you do not want to keep.
Contact support
Email hello@hummingly.app. Include:
- Hummingly app version;
